In life we often think that we have to choose between one or the other. Be good or bad, do right or wrong, have this or that. We tend to think literally, and that
one thing can only have one meaning, therefore that is the direction you must follow. This view of life is hard not to have because we see choice and the consequences of it in everything. Life is very physical and seeing is believing for most of us.
What if though the same outcome can be achieved or gained through multiple ways. We know this to be true because it happens all the time. Such as the achievement of wealth or knowledge, which has been gained both through academic studies and through not having any formal education. Yet society tends to want to only pick one side to this success. People that have committed acts of violence and have addiction problems can be generalised as coming from a 'bad' upbringing, but there are stories where a 'good' upbringing has also led to these circumstances too. We have constantly been fed this narrative that only one way works. To only view one side of things and follow that as the only right way for all has created a lot of disorder in the world and within us. This is evident through the wars we have seen, slavery, racism and also on an individual level such as shame, not feeling good enough and stereotyping ourselves and others leading to judgment.
This way of thinking is changing but it still resembles a majority of the way in which people think. We now have access to a global network of ideas, thoughts and ways of doing things where we once did not. Explore what feels right instead of blindly following orders or doing things just because it was always done. Break free of patterned ways of thinking that does not serve you.
